If you’re a Compers News member who wants to take your hobby to the next level by joining in the conversation with fellow compers across the UK, you can sign up for Chatterbox – our EXCLUSIVE interactive discussion board.
See page 47 of any issue of Compers News (paper or digital edition) for full instructions on how to register if you want to join in the chat, including the current Access Code that you’ll need as part of the sign-up process.
Chatterbox is a safe and friendly discussion board since only Compers News subscribers can join if they want to be an active member of our online community, and there is NO automation involved in the sign-up process. We take the extra time to personally check, approve and manually activate every single Chatterbox application to ensure that the message board is as secure as it can possibly be – SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AND ALLOW UP TO THREE WORKING DAYS FOR YOUR ACCOUNT TO BE ACTIVATED.
Chatterbox was set up by Compers News back in 2001, to provide a forum for members who wish to discuss comps and comping. Although the magazine continues to provide and host Chatterbox on its secure server as a service to members who wish to join in the chat and use the facility, the information and discussion on the board is provided BY Chatterbox members FOR Chatterbox members – so to be fair to everyone, we do ask for a minimum level of participation. If you never have a comping opinion (or even a non-comping opinion in Natterbox!), never find a new comp to post, never win a prize to tell us about, never want to say thank you to a poster, or never want to congratulate a winner, then Chatterbox isn’t for you. But don’t worry, as your paid Compers News subscription isn’t affected and you’ll still receive news of hundreds of new comps every month in your magazine.
Because of the interactive nature of Chatterbox, we do have a couple of minimum posting requirements and by signing up for a Chatterbox account you are acknowledging your understanding and acceptance of these. These are the MINIMUM requirements for us to be able to identify that an account is being used properly, and your account will be automatically deleted if you don’t meet them.
• You must post AT LEAST ONE MESSAGE within 14 days of your account being activated.
Chatterbox members have 14 days from their joining date to find their way around the forums and to make at least ONE post (which can be in ANY forum, either as a new message or as a reply on an existing thread) which will serve to confirm that they are happy for their Chatterbox membership to continue. If, on the other hand, they feel that Chatterbox is not for them then they simply need do nothing and their account will automatically deactivate after the initial 14-day period.
• You must post AT LEAST ONE MESSAGE every 90 days.
This tells us that you continue to visit Chatterbox, and that you remain an active member of the community.
There are NO other minimum posting rules at the present time apart from these basic system verification requirements.
Please also note the following important information:
ONLY ONE CHATTERBOX ACCOUNT PER COMPERS NEWS MEMBER
Please note that only ONE active Chatterbox account and username is allowed per Compers News membership number. If we find more than one Chatterbox account linked to the same membership number, then all of the affected accounts will be deleted.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CHATTERBOX ACCOUNT IS DEACTIVATED
If you fail to make the minimum number of posts above, your Chatterbox account will be automatically deactivated. You can ask for your account to be reactivated by sending an email to editor@compersnews.com - please include your Chatterbox username in your email. Once your account has been reactivated, please ensure that you make at least one post as soon as possible otherwise your account will be flagged as inactive again on the next system review.
Remember, it’s so easy and takes only seconds to make a post and keep your account on our discussion board active!
