Something For The Weekend - Cravendale Bake Your Own Barry Competition

Hello again happy compers!  How has your week been, any nice new wins to report?  August has been my worst month for comping – ever!  Have enjoyed having the children home for the summer, but am secretly quite glad that we are on the home stretch to September now and routine and sanity can, once again, rule!  We are off visiting relatives on the mainland at the back end of next week, and may even squeeze a day trip in to Chessington, if the children behave well enough!  Have been trying to win some tickets, but to no avail, ah well, always next year!

Has the summer weather deserted you where you are?  It more or less has here on the Island – decidedly cooler now, which to be honest I’m really not that sad about, as it was a bit too hot for me.  It does mean, however, that we are making fewer trips to the beach in swimming costumes now, and are having more long walks along the coast or in the woods.  We have also been spending more time in the kitchen, baking and cooking up some lovely treats – it’s one of my children’s favourite pastimes when the weather is inclement.  Has the return of the Great British Bake Off inspired you to spend more time in the kitchen too?  If you are looking for a fun activity to do with the children this weekend, or just fancy baking some sweet treats for yourself or friends, why not combine it with the current competition being run by Cravendale milk.  Pop along to their website and download their exclusive recipe to Bake Your Own Barry the Biscuit Boy, and you can enter their competition to win a Cravendale Milkshake set.  The set includes a Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer, milkshake bottles, straws and a whole host of goodies to create your own Milkshake Bar!  You can enter as many times as you like, as long as each photo is different.  Entries close at 10:00 on Sunday 10th October, so you have plenty of time to perfect your baking and decorating and submit your best photos.  Good luck!

On the baking and cooking theme, here are some other current competitions for you to have a go at, while you are in the kitchen this weekend:

  • Would you like to embark on a food adventure, sharing your recipes for the chance of winning fantastic prizes such as kitchen essentials or inspiring cooking classes?  Lurpak have the comp for you!  Sign up for their Food Adventure challenges, upload photos of your dishes created using their cooking mist over twitter and Instagram and you could be winning some great prizes.  Entries close on 31st August 2014, so get spraying and cooking!
  • Do you fancy attending the Cake & Bake Show in London this October – AND bake live on stage with Peter Sidwell?  Well enter the Wright’s Baking competition and you could be 1 of 6 winners doing just that!  Submit your best British inspired recipe using Wrights bread and cake mixes, along with a photo by September 9th 2014 for a chance of winning.  Winners will receive a pair of tickets to the show each, a prize bundle of products and books and must be available to bake their winning recipe (and bring their own ingredients) at the show from 3rd – 5th October 2014.
  • Summer is hanging on by a thread now, and autumn will be upon us before we know it.  Do you have a favourite autumnal recipe?  Share it with the Epicure for Creative Cooks website, and you could win 6 weeks of Abel & Cole fruit and veg boxes.  Register / log in to their website and submit your recipe (with a photo, if you have one) by 30th September 2014 fir a chance to win.
  • Are you a cake baking machine?  The Go Hen blog are giving away a £25 Lakeland voucher for their favourite cake baked and emailed to them by midnight on Friday 3rd of October 2014.  Entries will be judged on the merits of “fun photo”, “great cake”, “best icing” and “random location”, so get your thinking caps on and your baking tins out!

Happy weekend comping (and cooking!), and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!
